Brian Switzer and Breanna Edwards Shooting-Murder Death: Berea, KY Teen Accused in Deadly Bank Attack That Left Two Dead
An 18-year-old suspect, Brailen Weaver, has been accused of carrying out a deadly bank robbery in Berea, Kentucky, on April 30, 2026—an incident that has left two people dead and a community in shock.
According to investigators, Weaver entered a US Bank branch at approximately 2 p.m. Shortly after arriving, he allegedly opened fire, fatally shooting two employees: 42-year-old Brian Switzer and 35-year-old Breanna Edwards. Authorities say he then moved behind the counter, searched through cash drawers, and fled the scene.
Later that same evening, investigators report that Weaver posted a message on social media that drew the attention of law enforcement. Combined with other evidence, including surveillance footage and vehicle information, authorities were able to identify and locate the suspect.
Law enforcement officials tracked a silver BMW believed to be connected to the case, leading to a high-speed pursuit. During the chase, Weaver allegedly reached speeds of up to 130 miles per hour before crashing in Lexington. He then attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended by police early the following morning.
Weaver now faces serious legal consequences. Federal charges include armed bank robbery and firearm offenses resulting in death, which carry the possibility of life imprisonment or the death penalty. In addition, Kentucky state authorities are pursuing separate murder charges.
The tragic loss of Brian Switzer and Breanna Edwards has deeply impacted the Berea community. Families, friends, and colleagues are mourning the sudden and violent loss of two lives, as the legal process begins and investigators continue working to bring clarity and justice to the case.
