Richard Joseph “Rick” Coyle : Former Officer and Deputy Remembered for Lifelong Service
It is with deep respect and sorrow that we remember Richard Joseph Rick Coyle, who passed away on April 30, 2026, at the age of 58 in Marion, Kentucky.
Rick dedicated his life to public service, building a distinguished career in law enforcement marked by commitment, professionalism, and care for the communities he served. He worked as a deputy with the Crittenden County Sheriff’s Office and served as a School Resource Officer for the Crittenden County School District, where he played a vital role in protecting students and supporting school safety.
Prior to his service in Kentucky, Rick retired in 2019 from the Chicago Police Department after many years of duty. He also served earlier in his career with the Will County Sheriff’s Department in Illinois, reflecting a lifelong dedication to law enforcement and public safety.
Beyond his professional life, Rick is remembered for his integrity, loyalty, and the genuine care he showed to those around him. His colleagues respected him, and members of the community—especially students and staff he worked with—benefited from his steady presence and commitment.
He is survived by his wife, Jami Coyle; his sister, Annamaria Iacullo; his nieces; and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law.
A service to honor his life will be held on May 8, 2026, at Rocket Arena in Marion, Kentucky, with private committal services to follow.
